introduction
This IUTAM symposium focuses on novel theoretical, computational and experimental state-of-the-art analyses of plasticity in crystalline materials that emerge from the physics and the mechanics of the underlying evolving microstructure. Special emphasis is placed on multi-scale methodologies which link the nano scale (discrete dislocation level and nano-crystalline materials), the micro scale (e.g. the grain level and dislocation substructures) and meso-macro scales (e.g. polycrystals, homogenized microstructures).
